Cricut Access Challenge: Modifying Ready To Make Files

Day 3 of my 2019 Cricut Access Challenge is this sweet paper pieced hexagon card from the Ready To Make project files.

I changed up the original card by using some Winter themed cardstock and added a custom message—which is, of course, also a free Access image. Instead of cutting the Warm Wishes image I decided to write it with a Cricut silver gel pen. I filled in the image by hand.

Doesn’t it feel like you’re being wrapped in a warm patchwork quilt on a cold winter’s day?

The Ready To Make projects archive in Cricut Design Space is chock full of great ideas for you!

Remember you don’t have to make everything exactly as specified in a Ready To Make project—they are merely suggestions!

The original project file had cute little banners and some button embellishments, but I wanted a winter theme. I just used the original design as a “jumping off point” for my idea. And you can, too!

Want to give this one a go?

Choose “Projects” in Design Space and—using the drop down box—choose Cricut Access. Scroll through to find the project called Hexagon Quilt Card and then choose Customize. The project will load as designed and you can make modifications or cut as designed. Simple and so elegant!

This is the first card I cut using this file. I did it in plain card stock to see how it would be put together. Hint: work on the edges first and the center will fall together easily.

After I made the card with winter themed card stock, I realized it looked like a patchwork quilt. Here’s what I came up with without the Winter message:

And here is my final version, with a little message to bring it all together!
