Here’s a cool idea for a decal that I thought you might like–a Holographic Momma Bear Car Decal. The Bear with Cub image is from the Cricut Access library. I’ve simply sliced in some hearts and the words “Momma Bear” to make a super cool decal for all the Momma Bears out there. By the way, this would be entirely appropriate for the back of your minivan, mommas!!
Other than the slicing, there’s nothing super *special* or difficult about this project. Remember the process of slicing multiple times on an image is simple enough, but it must be done in steps. That’s because the Slice tool can only be used with simple, single layer images–one single image on top of another single image.
Because I have an Aspie brain, the Slice tool is a little hard to conceptualize for me. I like to think of it like this: picture a slice of bread that you press a cookie cutter into. When you remove the cookie cutter, you’ll still have a slice of bread but also the cutout. Once you’ve sliced, you can discard that cutout…or eat it, if it really were bread. If thinking of slicing like this helps you, then use it! I really won’t mind!
And, don’t forget, in case you are still a little fuzzy on how to do a slice, I am giving you the already sliced image in my Design Space file below, so you can look at the file and replicate this technique.
Of course, I had to jazz my Momma Bear Car Decal up a bit by using Cricut Holographic Sparkle Vinyl. If you’ve never used Holographic Sparkle Vinyl, I highly recommend trying it. It’s got a different “feel” than regular vinyl–sort of thinner and kind of metallic. To be honest, the only thing I don’t like about Cricut’s Holographic Sparkle Vinyl is that it is difficult to photograph. It is much prettier in real life than I can seem to show you!
By the way, in case you’re interested in the staying power of Cricut’s Holographic Vinyl, I conducted an experiment with it. I’ve had an intricately cut Corgi Mandala decal on my car for over a year and it still looks as new as the day I put it on–even after enduring two New England winters! So I recommend it for outdoor use, for sure!
